I thought that I would list some of the props and tools that I use in my own practice. These are things that I have found useful and of good quality. I’ve also listed a few shops/organizations that I support. I try to purchase mindfully and from companies that share same qualities I do. I also try to support organizations that make action to end the suffering for all beings. Do your own research, purchase intentionally, and support organizations and communities that align with your values.
I have also listed some organizations that I support and donate to.
I’ll continue to update this list as I try new things!
Props for Asana Practice
- Blocks – I typically use blocks in my own practice. They help me find the right shape of the pose to meet my body where it is in my own practice. I have tried both cork and foam. Sometimes it is nice to have a firmer block (cork) and sometimes softer foam for certain uses.
- Cork blocks – I have these ones from Manduka. They also have a slimmer profile block that I haven’t tried yet.
- Foam blocks – I have a pair from Gaiam and from Trideer.
- Mats – I have tried many mats and there are some really good brands. Jade has a really great mat that is very grippy, and I have had a good mat from Manduka as well. I have also owned a couple Lululemon mats. My current favorite grippy and just overall comfortable mat is from Liforme.
- Liforme – I have the classic mat. They have so many great color options. This mat is an investment but so far it has been great and very durable. Liforme is also a certified B corporation so I feel good about supporting them with my purchases. Full disclaimer that I am an affiliate so any purchase you make through the link, I receive a small portion of. Thank you for your support!
- Misc
- Straps – I have this from Manduka. They sometimes offer various colors. It is always nice to have strap on hand to help support your practice.
- Mat Towel – My liforme mat is very grippy even during sweaty hot yoga practices, but sometimes I do use a towel (more when I am doing a 26/2 practice). I use the Yogitoes towel from Manduka.
